NEW COACHES: You will need to register for the KidSafe Program. Please click HERE to register online (through "Gotsoccer.com").

KYSC Volunteer Coaches - It is very important that you are registered for the "KIDS SAFE" program before the start of each season! Referees will be instructed to look for this at each team inspection before a game.

If you have not done so already, please go to GotSoccer Coach Profile login page. Click on > LOGIN under "Team & Team Officials" on the left side of the page, about half way down. From there you will enter your username and password under the INDIVIDUAL COACH area. If problems, click on Coach Account Lookup.

 Coaching Clinics

Before the beginning of each season, KYSC offers US Soccer Federation (USSF) coaching clinics in conjunction with STYSA. These are licensing clinics and are referred to as “Youth Modules”. Completion of a Youth Module is required within one year of your KYSC coaching start date.

The clinics are especially helpful to coaches wanting to become more familiar with the game of soccer and are seeking assistance in preparing practice plans. Coaches and assistant coaches new to either KYSC or the game of soccer are strongly encouraged to attend.

Returning coaches are invited to participate if space is available. Coaches who are experienced players themselves will find the clinics very educational in learning how to make the transition from “playing” the game of soccer to “teaching” the game of soccer.

The clinics are divided into two sessions consisting of classroom instruction and field work.

Topics covered in the clinic include the following:

      • Age-appropriate coaching philosophy
      • Rules of the Game
      • Team organization
      • Sample practice plans
      • Sample drills

You are encouraged to bring a soccer ball and water bottle to the field session. It is suggested that you bring a snack to eat between the classroom and field sessions. Come dressed to participate in the sample drills; shin guards are recommended.

Coaches Clinics

Coaching Clinics are typically offered shortly before the start of the FALL and SPRING seasons. Registration for these clinics is coordinated through STYSA and can only be accessed online. The same GotSoccer userID and password combination is used to register for these clinics AND to register as a KYSC coach for the KidSafe background check. New coaches logging in for the first time will be asked to create their own account.

USSF coaching courses and clinics are free of charge to KYSC coaches. The $40 cost of the training will be charged to your credit card at the time of registration. KYSC coaches, however, will be reimbursed upon completion of the course.

NOTE: Successful completion of the course requires that BOTH the classroom instruction and the field session are completed.

STYSA bylaws require all coaches to complete a minimum coaching license (Youth Module) within one (1) year of beginning to coach. Failure to do so can result in being ineligible to continue coaching.

Coaches - Please do your best to make the games FUN for the players. If your team is dominating the game by more than 4 goals, possibly try some other strategies to make the game more enjoyable for both sides!

 Coach Resources

Below we've posted some helpful links that can hopefully assist you in your role as a KYSC volunteer coach. You have taken the first step in becoming an important figure in making a difference in a child's life; helping them to learn the game of soccer, having fun, and playing with good sportsmanship!

Want to learn more about the specifics of an "Offside" call? Then click here to see a great pictorial description. (The offside rule is mainly enforced in the U11 and higher division games, however, it is also expected that at the U10 level, players start to become familiar with it.)
